Ayse Tütüncü piano
Yahya Dai soprano and tenor saxophones
Oguz Büyükberber bass and Bb clarinettes

Ayse Tütüncü established a trio in 2004 with Oguz Büyükberber
on Bb and bass clarinets and Yahya Dai on soprano and tenor saxophones both of whom she had worked with for years. The trio recorded its first album Carnivalesque (EMI/ Blue Note) in 2005, which is a collection of new compositions by Ayse Tütüncü, specifically arranged by her to fit the format of "two wind instruments and a piano".

The arrangements are based on the interplay of the two winds
and their interaction with the piano. The common pair is soprano saxophon and bass clarinet, although in some of the pieces it is also Bb clarinet and tenor saxophon. Ayse Tütüncü’s unique style of music could be described as a special blend of western classical and contemporary music, jazz, and influences from a variety of traditions. The album includes also an Astor Piazzolla and a Carla Bley song which have been rearranged by the pianist for this particular trio.... and the improvisations, as always, belong to the moment...
